About Merelyn - Realism Artist

Merelyn is a talented artist specialising in highly detailed wildlife and animal art. Having spent her entire life on remote rural farms, with five generations of her family sharing the deep connection to the land, her profound love for animals and nature is the driving force behind her artwork. Growing up surrounded by the beauty of the Australian landscape, Merelyn’s art captures the essence of the country’s unique wildlife and rich biodiversity.

“My childhood memories are filled with long visits to my grandparents’ property in Nyngan. Each evening large green tree frogs would gather on their back porch to cool off. My job was to collect them and relocate them, but by morning, they’d always return. This early connection with nature fostered my love for all creatures, which continues to influence my art today. I have been creating art my whole life.”

Merelyn’s exceptional attention to detail allows her to create stunning, lifelike drawings of both animals and birdlife that often resemble photographs. Her ability to replicate the smallest details is not only a technical achievement but also a way to showcase the delicate beauty and wonder of the Australian wildlife she holds so dear.

As an advocate for wildlife conservation, Merelyn has a special focus on Australia’s Critically Endangered Species. From the rare Gouldian Finch to the small Numbat, she seeks to raise awareness of the unique and vulnerable species that call Australia home. Through her Endangered Species, she contributes 15% of all proceeds from prints and cards to The Nature Conservancy Australia, a non-profit dedicated to protecting Australian ecosystems, wildlife and birdlife through strategic conservation effects.

Australia is home to a diverse array of animals and birds, many of which face critical threats from habitat loss, climate change, and human activity. Merelyn’s art not only celebrates the beauty of these creatures but also serves as a reminder of the importance of preserving them for future generations.
